Impossibly-Tiny Mobile Workshop
Introducing the KTG Tiny Mobile Workshop (& maker space!) I built this mobile version of the KTG workshop to haul 20+ hours across the country for the Essex Project.
The Starting Point
Here's the starting point. We'd been using this as a camping-gear trailer for a few years, so I already had a shelf which was a great starting point.
A Peek Inside
Two full workbenches, LED lighting, and every tool accessible. Most tools usable from within the trailer. 3D printer is cushioned & restrained to print while in motion.
A 6-Year-Old for Scale
It's hard to illustrate how tiny this trailer is. Here's the day we brought it home.
Off-Grid in a Parking Lot
To demonstrate the self-sufficiency of this thing, I set up shop in the middle of a parking lot one night to do a bit of welding.
Deployed to Connecticut Project
This is what the KTG mobile workshop looks like when deployed 20 hours across the country to overhaul a 2-car garage.
The Tiny Advantage
The tiny size is quite nice for backing right up to a jobsite.
Garage Extension
Backed up to the garage door for quick convenience.
Usage At Home
Here the KTG Mobile workshop is extending the main KTG workshop as we apply shellac to a KTG Magic Island
600W Solar on the Roof
3x 200W panels fit perfectly on this tiny trailer.
Center Aisle
Here's how the 3 smaller carts fit in the center aisle.
Ceiling Storage
Ceiling crossmembers for friction-fit-function.
Drill Press (while standing up!)
I can see the drill bit, even though you can't see me.
Drill Press (while crouched)
I'm 5' 11".
Bandsaw on the Trailer
Accidental discovery: The bandsaw can be used as a stationary saw when hung on the door hinge.
Welding Unplugged
MIG welding in an empty parking lot for no reason. Here, I'm using the Sun to melt metal. No shore power needed.
Printing on the Move
3D printer running while towing down the highway.
Seatbelts for Miniature Trash Cans
A waste sorting station inside the trailer.
Cozy Night
Getting some rest before the next day's work.
Under 2990 lbs
Light enough to be pulled by a minivan, Jeep, or light pickup - without requiring trailer brakes.
Welding in a Storage Unit
Convenient for welding projects in places where there's no place to plug in a welder.
