Here is my hacksolution<\/strong> to truing up deep juice grooves. Deep juice grooves have end grain on both sides, so it’s both difficult and important to sand them well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Rotary tools (like Dremel) are nice, but extensive use of those can yield a bumpy and uneven surface. The reciprocating sander solves this due to the straight bottom and back & forth movement. it also helps prevent rounding over the edges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a good reason to use a metal-cutting reciprocating saw blade, as the teeth are smaller and will be easier to grind off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Epoxy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 5-minute epoxy is pretty viscous, but I didn’t want to wait for the 30-minute epoxy to cure, so heat allowed the epoxy to flow better into the kerf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viscous means thick<\/strong>.
I finally found a way to remember it: “viscous is thickscous” <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took about 4 minutes to get the glue spread, so it only took a minute of holding the blade in place before it held on its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This worked amazingly well.  In the future I may make a taller one, so that the reciprocating saw body doesn’t get in the way of the board.  That way I don’t have to switch sides of the board when sanding (as seen in the video below).<\/p>\n\n\n
